Italy-Russia. Syntony of Sound and Images
The artistic section of Todi Festival has been set up at Palazzo del Vignola and with the participation of italian and russian artists
Opening Friday 22nd August, 12.00
Todi, Palazzo del Vignola
The Visual Arts sector of the Todi Festival 2014 has been coordinated by Zerynthia in partnership with the NCCA, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts of the Russian Federation. The exhibitive programme includes a site-specific installation by Jannis Kounellis, special guest and author of the manifesto for the Todi Festival 2014. Presented for the first in Italy, “Arte Italiana all’Ascolto” (“Italian Art to Listen to”) is a project elaborated by Zerynthia for the NCCA in Moscow for the celebration of the Italy-Russia culture year in 2011.
This is a “mise-en-scène” of sound art, highlighting the constant presence of sound in the work of eighteen Italian artists of the last three generations: Mario Airò, Massimo Bartolini, Riccardo Benassi, Bianco- Valente, canecapovolto, Alberto Garutti, Donatella Landi, Martux_M, Liliana Moro, Cesare Pietroiusti, Alfredo Pirri, Vettor Pisani, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Emilio Prini, Annie Ratti, Donatella Spaziani, Alberto Tadiello, ZimmerFrei.
In this sort of “promenade”, as in a theatrical action, the artists dialogue in a play of resonances.
The section dedicated to Russian art, “Le coordinate del suono” (“The Coordinates of Sound”) curated by the Chief Curator of the Moscow venue of NCCA, Vitaly Patsyukov, includes the artists and musicians Olga Chernysheva, Pavel Karmanov, Vladimir Martynov, Aleksandr Pettai, Vladimir Smolyar and Vladimir Tarasov.
Outisde, until late at night in the internal courtyard of the Palazzo, Leonid Tishkov’s acclaimed “Private Moon” can be admired.
