Capodanno (New Year’s eve), the festive occasion singled out by Zerynthia, is the most secular one of all the celebrations. A fundamental transitional moment, at New Year there are two vital cycles which scrutinize one another, together with all their retinue of disappointments and promises.
Even more fundamental was the 1999 New Year as here two Millennia face one another, capturing their prophetic final second with a drawing. To decide to celebrate this moment with an exhibition of drawings seems particularly interesting, as drawing, within the History of Art, is the apotheosis of an instant and of speed.
The first edition in 1999 has been followed by other editions.
