From March 17th to 22nd, everyday at 14.00 and 21.00 Italian time, RAM LIVE will broadcast from the banks of the River Creek in Dubai and Sharjah a reportage entitled “Sounds Like Dubai”, by Ilari Valbonesi, via stream on http://live.radioartemobile.it/
This daily appointment is a Radio Art Event, and sonic ethical space, which will collect statements, sounds and voices from the cultures that meet in the heart of Persian Gulf. The aim is to consolidate the role of the web radio as a decentralized experience through sound, to develop flexible models of cooperation between what is public and private, and the promotion of cultural diversity.
These are indeed crucial days for the contemporary art debate. Manyfold are the events taking place on Emirate soil: Mapping Palestine, the opening of Art Dubai Global Forum, an international format where the theories of artistic Diaspora, cultural consumerism and audience interact, featuring several important artists, intellectuals and cultural operators. Another topic of discussion will be the role of Biennales as transformational hubs for world art, focusing on three cities: Tehran, Athens and Moscow.
There will be the inauguration of the Al Bastakiya Art Fair, a fair dedicated to the emerging Emirate art scene, as well as the Abraaj Capital Art Prize for Middle Eastern, North African and South Asian artists. Furthermore, the same period marks the beginning of the Sharjah Biennale which is strategically in opening the Gulf to intercultural contact with the world, transcending national boundaries. Finally comes the presentation of the 53rd Venice Biennale which will see the inclusion of the first UAE Pavilion. Dubai is striving for becoming the gateway to the world.
Happy listening!
