The first training project hosted by the Vigne Museum, the NOW Summer School will present the latest results of the three residency projects entitled “Architecture for Nature” that from September 2017 mark the activities inspired by the permanent installation signed by Yona Friedman with Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, created in 2014 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founder Livio Felluga.
Promoted by the Livio Felluga company and coordinated by NOW New Operation Wave, the Summer School workshops are inspired by themes related to the landscape, environmental protection and respect for man-nature balance.
The group of young architects, curators and artists from the universities of Udine, Trieste, IUAV Venice, IED Rome, Alghero, Brera Academy of Milan and Villa Arson of Nice who participated in the project, will return to Rosazzo, in the heart of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, in the days before the meeting to produce the last part of the prototypes, independently conceived in the three phases of the Summer School and grew thanks to the advice of Yona Friedman and Jean-Batiste Decavèle.
The results will take the form of three experimental, autonomous and modular works, a clear reference to Friedman’s circular structure and to his architectural theory: seating, shielding, habitable sculptures, unique pieces such as unsustainability, self-production, self-organization and mobility.
Thanks to the collaboration of Cluster Arredo and Sistema Casa, a project partner, some local companies and entrepreneurs have been involved, open to similar experimental projects. Two great Italian-made characters responded enthusiastically: Riccardo Meterc from METERC, master of the interweaving of PVC for design projects of major international brands, and Luca Toso fromTafaruci Design, a high-profile carpenter who collaborated with many companies in the manufacture of iron structures of their products.
The three projects will be presented to the public in an event moderated by Giovanna Felluga, artistic coordinator of the Vigne Museum. The invitation was extended to various figures from the world of art, science and design, confirming the multi-disciplinary nature of both the NOW network and the Vigne Museum itself.
The first part of the meeting will be exclusively dedicated to the NOW Summer School during which NOW’s operative nucleus, together with three participants representing the entire group, will narrate the design and development path of the three prototypes created. Carlo Piemonte will also speak for the occasion. Director of Cluster Arredo and Sistema Casa, partner of the initiative. Secondly, to broaden the artistic and cultural debate related to the theme “Architecture for Nature”, will take part: Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, artist and co-author of the Vigne Museum with Yona Friedman; Maurizio Bortolotti, curator of contemporary art; Pietro Maroè young “arbonauta” author of the book “The shyness of the hair”; Dora Stiefelmeier, founding member of the Foundation No Man’s Land with Yona Friedman Honorary President; Marco Tagliafierro, critic, curator and journalist. Opening the meeting and doing the honors of Elda Felluga, co-owner and head of external relations of Livio Felluga.
A day dedicated to the landscape, nature and sensitization towards issues dear to Vigne Museum that continue to be confirmed through various testimonies that feed the propagation of a careful thought towards young people and a regenerative approach towards our environment and society Contemporary.
